Before the year 2002, the few ways one could get their clothes altered in the Klang Valley after a shopping spree was to drive up to their neighbourhood alteration shop operated by a part-time seamstress in her home.
While there was nothing particularly wrong with the way that alterations were being conducted, Za Altera's founders realized that there was a huge gap in the market for such needs.
“We realized that there was no particular alteration service in Malaysia that provided good customer service and consultation with high quality alterations at locations convenient to the urban market."
Today Za Altera has grown exponentially from their first store in Mid Valley Megamall to 6 direct, 2 partnerships and 4 franchises.
About Us
Our Mission
We believe that alterations can play a significant role in promoting sustainability in the fashion industry.
By extending the life of a garment through alterations, we can reduce waste and the need to purchase new clothing.
Simple alterations such as hemming, taking in or letting out seams, or replacing buttons can transform an outdated or ill-fitting garment into a new piece that fits perfectly and is ready to be worn again.
Additionally, alterations can encourage people to form a deeper connection with their clothing, fostering a sense of responsibility and care for the items they own, rather than seeing them as disposable.
Overall, alterations can be a powerful tool for promoting sustainability in fashion, and can lead to a more mindful and conscious approach to consumption.
